Daily practice much more than physical training

Ask any student of the martial arts if they practiced today and that student will with few exceptions take that question as to did he or she practice the physical side of the art. Kicking, striking, forms and sparring come to mind. While this is certainly practice and very necessary, we as TaeKwonDo students should not forget to practice the TaeKwonDo philosophy every day.

The Tenets of TaeKwonDo are our guide to the philosophy of our art.

COURTESY, INTEGRITY, PERSEVERENCE, SELF CONTROL , INDOMITABLE SPIRIT.

The TaekwonDo student oath.

I SHALL OBSERVE THE TENETS OF TAEKWONDO

I SHALL RESPECT MY INSTRUCTOR AND SENIORS

I SHALL NEVER MISUSE TAEKWONDO

I WILL BE A CHAMPION OF FREEDOM AND JUSTICE

I WILL BUILD A MORE PEACEFUL WORLD

Make a habit of implementing these core ideas of our art into your everyday life. We all have the opportunity to do so every day. Once this becomes a habit, your TaeKwonDo will take on a much deeper significance in your life. You will also have a positive influence on others. Build a strong body, but never neglect the mind and the spirit. Put sincere effort into your training and this beautiful art will reward you tenfold.
